Material Handler - GC1126

Responsible to pack material and/or operate forklift / train to move materials, supplies and finished goods to designated places in the facility or onto/off-of truck trailers. The main missions of the role are to: ▪ Pull, load, pack and move matierals, supplies and finished goods to assigned area(s) by use of leveling boards ▪ Follow escalation procedure for any descrepancy (i.e. low level components, Truck Preparation Area (TPA) parts shortage) ▪ Check for required part identification to ensure proper load is pulled/moved ▪ Stack skids, pallets, baskets and barricades in designated area(s) ▪ Clean and dispose of scrap cardboard, strapping and tags in proper containers or area ▪ Deliver containers by use of physical Kanban ▪ Empty all scrap happers as needed and always at end of shift ▪ Take empty baskets etc outside as well as break-down all pipe racks and take outside ▪ Keep isle-ways clear of clutter at all times ▪ Perform required operation and safety checks prior to signing out assigned forklift / train – complete safety checklist at beginning of shift and follow all forklift/train safety rules at all times ▪ Notify GAP Leader and/or Supervisor when equipment malfunctions occur ▪ Pack parts into designated container and record information in line with labeling and/or packing instructions ▪ Identify finished parts with traveler tags as required; put old traveler tags away as soon as possible ▪ Complete all required paperwork on a daily basis ▪ Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with company policy; including but not limited to sweeping dock area and other areas of the plant as needed ▪ Adhere to all work rules and procedures Additional reponsibilities include: ▪ Clean / paint equipment, clean / seal floors, paint lines around equipment when assigned ▪ Assist with product sequencing when required ▪ Actively particpate in work teams ▪ Implement at least two improvement ideas per month ▪ Other duties as requested Physical Requirements: ▪ Job involves lifting and carrying 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occassionally, exerts 25 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects ▪ Requires pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, gripping and bending as well as considerable twisting ▪ High mental and visual effort required ▪ Able and willing to work overtime when required Safety / Hazards: ▪ Steel toed shoes required in production area at all times due to physical hazards from moving equipment, machine parts and product ▪ CSA approved safety glasses required in producton area due to dust, oils and debris ▪ Ear protection required in production area due to high noise levels from machines ▪ May be Exposed to flying objects such as weld slag and sparks ▪ May be exposed to weld fumes and dust ▪ Exposed to moderate burns, cuts and bruises ▪ Exposed to significant temperature changes in the facility – (heat in the summer / cold in the winter) Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and Competencies): ▪ Satisfactory company work record, including attendance ▪ Trained and certified to operate forklift and train ▪ Successful completion of in-house training program ▪ Demonstrate the ability to perform to the quality standard and production pace ▪ Able to replace consumable parts and recharge battery on forklift /train ▪ Ability to follow instruction verbal and written - good math, language and reading skills required ▪ Good communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate with employees of all levels ▪ Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and in a positive manner ▪ Valid driver’s license How to apply: Option 1 - Apply Online Option 2 - By Email Please send us your resume to resume to resume2013@gc-employment.com with the subject “Material Handler - GC1126" Option 3 - In Person Please bring your resume and forklift licenses, asking for Lilian Before you come, please register at home: Step 1: Register on-line first at http://www.gc-employment.com/Candidate/NewRegister Step 2: Log in GC account by your email and password you've created Step 3: Click "Test" then finish safety and WHIMS training Our address: 7025 Tomken Road, #10, Mississauga, ON, L5S 1R6 (Tomken/Derry) You can call 416-299-0789 (Lilian) for more information!!
